Frank Nchimunya Sibbuku

Frank Nchimunya Sibbuku — often spelled Simbuku — is a prominent Zambian filmmaker, scriptwriter and director. He is best known as the creator and executive producer of Mpali, the telenovela airing on Zambezi Magic (DStv) that revolves around the dramatic, multi-layered family life of a wealthy polygamist, Mr. Nguzu.

His route to the screen was unusual: an aspiring rapper who became a comic book artist and illustrator before finding his way into television at Muvi TV. That visual grounding shows in his work — strong composition, clear staging, and a patient, character-first approach to long-form drama.

Alongside Mpali he has produced and directed features and series including Red Bag, Zedman and Zuza, and continues to advocate for the growth of Zambia's creative industries at national summits and panels.
